10 Comments on TRUMP LOGIC – Without subsidy, Canada ceases to exist as a country

  1. Thank you to Donald Trump for making Canada take the scourge of fentanyl seriously. We don’t even have policy at our ports FFS.

  2. Is it up to our Immigration Minister to allow Trump entry into Canada? He seems to have dwelt on the issue of illegal immigration so I think he needs to answer on his own status as far as Canada is concerned.

Free trade seems to be gone with tariffs looming.  And we’re being told by a man who was convicted on numerous felony charges that we’re not a country.

Something doesn’t seem to add up here.

People and news outlets trying to counter the tariff argument using rational and logical points are missing the mark entirely.

This is not about drugs or illegal immigration. This is not about the facts of trade and that Americans have access to reliable cheap oil from their trading partner.

This is about chaos. That is the point. It’s about come to me, dance as I pull your strings, and plead your case to me. It’s about fly down to Florida so that I can insult you at the dinner table while you sit there like a simp and take it.

Ultimately what Trump has done can be good for Canada. But only if we finally wake up, strengthen our export channels with new trade agreements, and stop being so complacent with our country. It’s time our leaders get serious about running this country. Hardly anything has been done since Trump’s first term, and the only people to blame for that is us.

  5. It is obvious if we follow the money that the only people that benefit from tariffs and subsequent economic chaos are short sellers. trump did this previously and now he’s really going for it.

Whatever did the world do to deserve Trump to become President of the USA.

  7. I was wondering what Trump is smoking, inhaling, chewing or drinking as he has not done his homework on what we export to the states; maybe we should throw the breakers for hydro going to the states, turning off the water valve that sends water across the line, no more timber/lumber, minerals, auto parts, food/alcohol and the list goes on which we export and close the border to all commercial traffic.

We should start sending back their alcohol, food to start with.

If this was just some person commenting in a blog, I’d dismiss him as a raging crackpot. Tell me this is just a bad dream.

  9. Canada does not subsidize products that go to the United States. The notion of Canada subsidizing the U.S. is incorrect for several reasons:

    1. Energy exports: Canada’s energy exports, including oil and gas, make up a significant portion of the trade balance. These exports provide the U.S. with secure, lower-cost energy, benefiting U.S. businesses and consumers.
    2. Trade deficit composition: The U.S. trade deficit with Canada is largely due to energy imports. If energy were removed from the equation, the U.S. would have a surplus with Canada!
    3. Services and investment: The U.S. enjoys a strong surplus in services trade with Canada and a net surplus on investment income, which offsets much of the merchandise trade deficit!
    4. Mutual benefits: Canadian exports to the U.S. are often used as inputs by American businesses, enhancing their competitiveness. Additionally, Canadian loans to the U.S. effectively enable American consumption to exceed production.
    5. Job creation: Canadian exports, particularly in the energy sector, create jobs in U.S. refineries and related industries.

Subsidization? Really? Trump will make America worse not great again!

  10. I got one rather odd angle to the “poisoning drugs allowed to flow freely into the US” argument:

Yes, Canada can and should do more about these drugs entering Canada in the first place, no question. Not for America, but for our own sakes.

BUT … the last time I checked, it was the responsibility of the country people and products entered into, to check to make sure that they conformed with the laws of that country … no?

When was the last time you entered the States,
and Canada stopped you to check that you weren’t taking drugs into the US?
    Or vise versa?
    Thats not how it works.

It ain’t Canadas job to keep stuff out of the US,
… maybe the Pumpkin Spice Palpatine
    might wanna take some responsibility,
for the US’s failure to stop drugs entering his country.
