A new advisor has been appointed by the provincial government to look into the troubles at City Hall.

Mayor Reid Hamer-Jackson confirmed to ArmchairMayor.ca today (Feb. 14, 2024) that the new appointee is Henry Braun, a former mayor of Abbotsford.

Braun’s contract will run until June. He takes over from Peter Fasbender, who was appointed by the Ministry of Municipal Affairs late last year but was then released without explanation.

  1. -It’s a good thing: a little listening; a little advice; some sense of peace for moving foward; looking toward a common future for all the people in Kamloops. Building a new City, with a new and more vibrant vision, using existing facilities in sports which promote family and goodwill and then adding new venues for future growth in civic matters and etertainment.

Former NDPBC? By the time he’s finished, we’re going to have 35 motions on Gaza Strip!

  3. How is simply appointing a more NDP-friendly advisor two months after firing the advisor with ties to the opposition “going in another direction”?

Also, it would be great if there was an avenue for the public to submit information and comments to this advisor. Judging from the city’s CAO’s comments in a news article last week, as far as city hall is concerned, it’s all the mayor’s fault. The CAO came off sounding like a child blaming their sibling for every fight. Everyone needs to do better.

    • I suspected this was going to happen. The local NDP leadership, including the fellow recently getting a plum position at UBC, was not happy with Fassbender appointment. Will this “new direction” lead us to positive outcomes as far as the way the city is managed? I highly doubt it.

A round of applause, the babysitter has finally arrived to the daycare centre on 1st! Surely this is part of the $10 per day daycare plan, and not some $100K waste of taxpayer dollars, right?!?!
