EDITORIAL – The man who thinks he’s a god is our biggest worry for 2024

Becoming President Trump. (Image: File photo, screenshot)

An editorial by Mel Rothenburger.

OF ALL THE WORRIES for 2024, there’s one that makes the others pale in comparison — the prospect of Donald Trump returning to the White House.

If you’ve been thinking it couldn’t possibly happen, think again. Monday night, this disgusting man cleaned up in the Iowa caucuses, capturing more votes than all the other candidates combined, taking every county but one, and winning 20 of 40 possible delegates to the party’s nomination convention.

There are many such caucuses and primaries to go — including the all-important New Hampshire race — but this first one confirms what everybody already believed — that a man who faces 91 criminal counts, is an inveterate liar, and is just plain dangerous is going to be the Republican candidate come Nov. 5.

Hard to believe that anyone, let alone millions, could possibly vote for Donald Trump, who admires dictators.

But consider this: two-thirds of those who voted on Monday think Joe Biden was not legitimately elected as president in 2020. They continue to buy the fabrication promoted by Trump that it was a rigged election.

I know when Pierre gets elected that he will defund the CBC .That way we won’t have to put up with all the left wing loonies in Ottawa that are ruining our once great country. Trudeau and his insane agenda has taken Canada down a dark hole that could take decades to recover from.Go Pierre and go Trump. Let’s make Canada and the USA great again.

    • I hope your personal values don’t support a person who a jury found liable for sexually abusing Carroll, a magazine writer, in the dressing room of a Manhattan department store in the mid-1990s and for defaming her after he left the White House by calling her a “wack job” and her story a “hoax,” among other insults.

  2. Stop the world and let me get off. The world can’t handle another 4 years of him as President.
Other things come to mind too, Mel.
The towing away of the Mayor’s car from his lot which perhaps brought some smiles and chuckles from administration. The Chief got some press time to explain how a threat to public safety had to be addressed. Less than 24 hours later, did the same person rush to the scene of a structure fire across the street and a couple of blocks closer to downtown? Not so many smiles and chuckles when they wondered if any burned human corpses would be found in the gutted building.
An innocent walk with our dog resulted in facial injuries to our dog and just over $300 in vet bills so far. It was so nice being victimized again by the same fellow saying that I should have taken my dog closer to the woman’s vehicle to get the licence plate. Yes, sir, and risk a second attack by a vicious dog.
Mel, we can fear Donald Trump all we want and we are right in doing so.
But we don’t have to look any further than some of the folks around us who make decisions for us to make us wonder why we can’t stop the world and let us off.

    • You raise a good point. There is a lot of fear being whipped up by the media, for this boogie man in particular.

But take a look around. Canada is crumbling. We have some of the lowest GDP of developed nations. We are in a population trap and seeing real GDP per capita spiral in a pattern seen only in developing countries, not G20. Immigration is out of control. 20% of foreign students don’t even report to school. Health care in shambles. Drug zombies on every corner. Dope heads smoking crack next to your children and the highest courts supporting that. Crime exploding. Random assaults. Drug gang wars. Progressive leaders who refuse to do anything and put the rights of nasty people ahead of responsible people.

What should we really be in fear of?

You must be really scared to see sensibility return to society Mel Rothenburger. You’ve been ranting about Trump for months now, maybe you should look closer to our own politics and see the true tyrant Trudeau that is running our country right now. But I’m sure you’ll have plenty to grip about when we get rid of the Nazi loving Liberals as you’re likely one yourself.

    • Are you suggesting that Trump and his ilk are returning sensibility to society?

There is nothing sensible in Trump’s words and actions. All one need do is look at objective facts to conclude that Trump is despicable and an authoritarian.

He has shown utter contempt for his fellow humans (basically anyone who dares to disagree with him) through his insults, bullying and and disrespect for any person or institution that doesn’t fit his world view and his agenda. That is not leadership, and certainly not the manner in which political leaders should behave.

All one need do is listen to his interviews, watch his campaign rallies, and watch the outcome of judicial proceedings to conclude this. One need not even read any media (left or right biased) to make this conclusion. Any human being with a sense of right and wrong can conclude this so long as they have not succumbed to confirmation bias or any other justification for this type of terrible human behaviour.

Please explain, if you can why, you equate Liberals with Nazis. Pretty harsh and certainly lacking any sensibility.
