LETTER – Throwing stones at what’s wrong in Kamloops City Hall

It’s obvious by now there is a problem at City Hall. Maybe it’s obvious that one person is responsible and if that is the case, then let’s cease with the small potatoes of public shaming methods and turn instead to a tried and proven way of settling the score.

First, there needs to be a copious supply of rocks and stones put into a pile in front of City Hall. Anyone who feels he or she is warranted to take part in the public stoning of the problem individual is invited to line up and have a suitable rock in hand, ready to throw.

Who will be first to cast a stone at the trouble-making, no good lout who is making a mockery of our municipality?

That choice is pretty simple. Let the one who throws the first rock be the one who has led by perfect example, without fault, for the last week! Is one week too long? How about 24 hours? OK….maybe 12 hours. Hmmmm. How about 10 minutes?

Maybe a standing committee could decide who of the accusers could be the faultless one who hurls the first rock.

JOHN NOAKES,
Kamloops

  1. Throwing stones. Really – promoting physical violence.
Stone throwing still exists in some countries- not to be used lightly.
Can we maybe focus on the good things that are happening for our city as we head into fall and winter months.

    • Really, Sheila.
The original story and the fact that NO one is worthy of throwing the first stone is the basis for this.
In the original story, all of the accusers realized what a Jewish fellow had taught through a real life situation.
Nowadays, the rocks are often social media, the leaking of documents with the purpose of shaming a person etc.
I’m sorry you missed the point.

  2. A keen observer would say that we always had a problem at City Hall. The difference is, now the dis-functionality is a bit more clear.
