POLICE – Pipe bomb safely removed from Aberdeen neighbourhood

An Aberdeen neighbourhood is back to normal today (July 4, 2023) after a pipe bomb was found and safely removed.

On Monday (July 3, 2023) around 7:35 p.m., Kamloops RCMP received a report of a suspicious package on the 900-block of Greystone Crescent. Officers were dispatched shortly after and located what appeared to be a homemade explosive.

The road was blocked and a safety parameter was established, but residents were not required to evacuate.

“Earlier today, the RCMP Explosive Device Unit attended the area, examined the package, and confirmed it was indeed a pipe bomb,” said Cpl. Crystal Evelyn.

“They were able to safely remove the device and the area has since reopened to the public.”

Anyone who may have security or dash camera footage, or information that may be related to the investigation, is asked to please contact police as soon as possible.

“Perhaps someone was walking by and looked like they dropped a bag or another item; maybe a vehicle was parked in the area that could be related – any information available that hasn’t already been provided could be helpful in furthering the investigation,” said Evelyn.

Those with information are asked to call the Kamloops RCMP Detachment at 250-828-3000 and reference file 2023-23584.

  1. The community is going to hell in a hand basket. What on earth are our elected officials doing about it? A sack of beans is what!

Mel, what is a concerned citizen supposed to do? This is a legitimate question.

Write an email to this useless Council more concerned with petty beefs and legal defence funds than the issues the majority of voters expressed concerns about?

Write a letter to the MP? He already tried to get an offender bill passed!

Write the MLA? A waste of time!

Email David Eby? The architect of the chaos that surrounds us? Author of “How to Sue the Police”?

Call the police? For what? Half the time they say there’s nothing they can do. The other half they can’t do anything because the bozo is back on the street the next day.

Call Bylaw? They don’t give a damn! They will immediately paint over a “Cum Inside” sign, but no, we can’t clear out that encampment, the dog shit on streets, the garbage strewn about, the tents and nuisance at service properties across the city. The screaming, menacing, loitering, that’s just fine. Addicts laying in the middle of a pedestrian path shooting a needle full of broken dreams into their arm. No problem. Attracting drug dealers to neighbourhoods? It’s fine. Nuisance properties continuing to operate? No problem.

    But “Cum Inside” is offensive!?!?!?

Are we still on planet earth, Mel?
