LETTERS – New building beside historic train station gives no thought to history
I just read your article (EDITORIAL – Design for new building beside old train station is out of place) on the Red Racer development and wholeheartedly agree, it looks like something a child would build, with no thought to the historic location or style of the nearby station.
I just read yesterday of a similar application in Vancouver, https://www.shapeyourcity.ca/900-w-georgia-st.
These are plans to add on to the historic Hotel Vancouver, with a nondescript boxlike structure, another abomination!

I could go on for hours about the development in Kamloops.
Your comments about the new building proposed at the train station will be ignored completely by those idiots at City hall. Have you seen the “seniors building “ at 5th and Victoria?
Was thinking yesterday that there is barely a heritage home left in this town.
I won’t go on for hours but love your columns. They should be front page in the Kamloops This Week.

Excellent article, Mel. Thanks for the foresight which seems to be seriously lacking at city hall! Always look forward to your articles.

We sure need a poet laureate for the city and even more so an architect laureate. But then again given that we never have had a definite architectural scheme what’s wrong with clashing styles?
