FIRE – Police looking for suspect in weekend fire at Eighth Street business

Kamloops RCMP are looking to identify a suspect responsible for a fire on Eighth Street last weekend.

On April 23, 2023, around 6:50 a.m., police were called to the 900-block of Eighth Street, where Kamloops Fire and Rescue was extinguishing a blaze responsible for damaging a rear door of a business.

“Security footage obtained as part of the investigation shows a suspect on a green and yellow mountain bike with a blue blanket draped over it, wearing a grey hoodie, bluish pants, and a cast or bandage wrapped around their right forearm,” said Cpl. Crystal Evelyn.

“The suspect, believed to be male, departed southbound on 8th Street.”

Remnants of a burned tire were located on the scene.

Anyone who witnessed or has information about the suspect, video, or photos related to the investigation is asked to please contact the Kamloops RCMP Detachment at 250-828-3000 and reference file 2023-13849.
