POLICE – Driver flees from police, strikes approaching cruiser with BMW

A Kamloops RCMP vehicle was struck Wednesday while officers were investigating a report of a man slumped over inside a red BMW.

Around 10:20 p.m., on March 1, 2023, Kamloops RCMP officers were called to the 1800-block of Tranquille Road in response to the report; the BMW had mismatched license plates.

“Although the man seemed cooperative at first, he allegedly turned the car back on and drove it at a high rate of speed, causing a minor collision with an approaching police vehicle before fleeing the area,” said Cpl. Crystal Evelyn.

The suspect was described as a Caucasian man in his 20s, with unkempt red hair, facial hair, and a flat brim dark coloured hat. Anyone who witnessed, has information, or video related to this investigation is asked to contact the Kamloops RCMP Detachment at 250-828-3000 and reference file 2023-7070.
