LETTER – Councillors should have used ‘sober second thought’ on photo
Hello Mel.
Although I’ve not lived in Kamloops since 2013, I still keep an eye on the city’s politics, and as of late, it’s certainly been interesting.
When I first saw the staged photo of the so-called team building session, and prior to reading the accompanying KTW article, my first impression was that it was intended to discredit the mayor. JOB WELL DONE! After reading the article, that impression was confirmed.
As for the stated intent of the gathering, someone should have exercised some “sober second thought” as to the message that such a photo would send by those pictured, and the possible damage it could do to future attempts at positive interpersonal relations on Council.
Human emotion has, for now, taken over. My hope is that the grown-ups will soon step forward.
Who knows? Perhaps the mayor will surprise us.
DANIEL (Murphy) KENNEDY
Editor’s Note: Murphy Kennedy was a candidate for mayor in the 2008 Kamloops civic election.
Will someone’s Dad sit down the newbie councillor and say that this was a huge mistake and political folly?
