POLICE – Search on for man who may have been taking pictures near school
UPDATE: The man police wanted to talk to regarding concerns about photos possibly being taken of students near a school has been cleared of any wrong-doing. RCMP released a brief statement Friday, May 6, 2022, saying: “Police were able to further the investigation and determined that there was no criminal act and that no photograph’s taken.”
EARLIER STORY: The Kamloops RCMP Detachment is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a person of interest following a report involving pictures possibly being taken near a school.
On May 4, 2022, around 1:20 p.m. officers were called to a suspicious occurrence on Bank Road, in which a man appeared to be taking photos of kids from behind a bush. Police attended and patrolled the area, but no one was located.
“Luckily, a photo was captured of the man as he walked away, northbound on Gilbert Street,” said Const. Crystal Evelyn, Kamloops RCMP spokesperson.
“Police are interested in identifying and speaking with the man to help further the investigation.”
