POLICE – ‘No criminality’ suspected in fatal crash on Notre Dame Drive

No criminality is suspected in a motor vehicle collision that claimed the life of a Kamloops woman today (May 5, 2022), police say.

Around 8:30 a.m., Kamloops RCMP responded to a report of a single-vehicle crash on Notre Dame Drive, during which a car left the roadway and crashed into a plaza parking lot nearby. Its sole occupant was pronounced dead at scene.

“Based on the preliminary evidence collected by the Kamloops RCMP Municipal Traffic Unit and frontline officers, it does not appear the cause of the crash is criminal in nature,” said Const. Crystal Evelyn, Kamloops RCMP spokesperson.

The BC Coroners Service is conducting a concurrent investigation and police are awaiting the results of its report for further information.

Anyone who witnessed or has information related to this incident and has not yet spoken with police, is asked to contact the Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 and reference file number 2022-14742.
