POLICE – Discovery of body in vehicle on Monterey Place deemed ‘suspicious’

A body was discovered in a vehicle Thursday, March 17, 2022 and it’s being treated by police as “suspicious.” They aren’t saying whether the body is of a male or a female.

The Kamloops RCMP Serious Crime Unit is investigating after a suspicious occurrence report led to the discovery of the body.

Around 10 p.m., frontline officers were called to the 1600-block of Monterey Place, where they located the dead person inside a vehicle.

“Police are waiting on the results of an autopsy to confirm the victim’s identity,” said Todd Wiebe, Staff Sergeant of the Kamloops RCMP Serious Crime Unit.

“More information will be released to help further the investigation as it becomes available.”

The Serious Crime Unit, General Investigation Service Team, Forensic Identification Service, Police Dog Service, and frontline officers are all actively engaged in assisting.

The BC Coroner’s Service is conducting a concurrent investigation.

Anyone with information related to the situation is asked to contact the Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 and reference file 2022-8565.
