POLICE – Pair of accused shoplifters arrested twice in as many days
A person leaving a store with hundreds of dollars in unpaid merchandise walked right into the custody of a Kamloops RCMP officer.
On March 8, 2022 at about 11:45 a.m., an officer was in the parking lot of a grocery store on the 900-block of Columbia Street West, investigating a stolen vehicle report, when a store employee alerted him to a woman who had left with unpaid merchandise.
“As police officers located the woman across the street, the employee informed them that a man she had been with was now attempting to leave the store with a buggy of unpaid items,” said Const. Crystal Evelyn.
“An officer was waiting for the man as he exited the store and quickly took him into custody.”
The stolen goods were returned to the store and the two suspects were released with a court date, pending the investigation’s conclusion.
The next day, March 9, around 2:40 p.m., the same two people were arrested for theft at a retail store on Hillside Drive. This time, they are being held in custody for a bail hearing.
Anyone with information related to either of these investigations is asked to please contact the Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 and reference file 2022-7339 or 2022-7488.
