POLICE – Horse’s tail cut off in strange overnight theft
A mischief report from a Monte Creek property has the RCMP asking residents to be on the lookout for anyone suspicious hanging around their horses.
Earlier this month, the Tk’emlúps Rural RCMP Detachment’s Livestock Section received a report that sometime overnight on July 5, 2021, someone trespassed onto a property on the 1500-block of Monty Creek Road and cut the tail off a horse. The animal was uninjured, but left unable to swat away flies and biting insects.
Although the motive for the tail cutting cannot be confirmed at this point, horse hair is known to be used in crafts.
“Unfortunately, this is not the first time we have heard of something like this happening in the province,” said Corporal Cory Lepine of the Livestock Section. “It’s really disheartening to think someone would sneak up on a horse and cut its tail off.”
Anyone with information on this or another similar occurrence not yet reported to police, is asked to please contact the Tk’emlúps Rural RCMP at 250-314-1800 and reference file 2021-23068.
Too bad the horse wasn’t a kicker!
