POLICE – Man suspected of lewd behaviour on City bus cleared by RCMP

A man suspected of lewd behaviour on a City bus has been cleared by police.

Kamloops RCMP said today (May 20, 2021) they have concluded their investigation into the allegation after interviewing witnesses and the man who supposedly committee the offence, as well viewing new surveillance video.

On May 6, police asked for the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect who was video recorded on a city bus on May 5 around 4 p.m. RCMP released the provided image to the public to help further its investigation.

Following the release, the man pictured contacted police and fully cooperated with the investigation, RCMP said today.

Surveillance was also secured from various sources, and upon reviewing it thoroughly, no inappropriate behaviour could be seen or heard, they said.

“Allegations of this nature are taken seriously and we are happy to report that as a result of a thorough investigation, no wrong-doing was identified,” said Const. Crystal Evelyn.

“We are thankful to the youth, the public, and the man for their cooperation in this investigation.”
