POLICE – Man stabbed during assault at Columbia Street West motel
A man was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries Tuesday (April 20, 2021), after being assaulted with a weapon at a motel on Columbia Street West.
Just after 3:30 p.m., Kamloops RCMP responded to the Star Lodge where a man in his 50s was found with stab wounds but was conscious. He was taken to hospital by ambulance.
Officers, including the Police Dog Services Unit, attended the area. Through the course of their investigation so far, police have identified a suspect, determined the parties are known to each other, and that they were involved in a confrontation that escalated into an assault.
“We are asking anyone who was at the Star Lodge, walking in the area, or driving by and witnessed anything related to this incident to please contact police if you haven’t spoken to them already,” said Const. Crystal Evelyn.
Anyone with information related to the investigation is asked to contact the Kamloops RCMP and reference file 2021-12506.
The Star Lodge was also the scene of an earlier incident in which a man was arrested following an armed robbery in the Aberdeen Mall area. The motel remains on the City’s nuisance property list.
