BUSINESS – New ‘business district’ called ‘the Hive’ to rise downtown
A new “business district” will rise between Victoria and Lansdowne Streets and between 5th and 6th Avenues, developers announced today (Jan. 29, 2020).
“The Hive Kamloops” will be a blend of premium office and retail space eventually encompassing three new buildings. The first phase will be a five-storey, 45,000 sq. ft. building on the corner of 5th Avenue and Lansdowne Street on a parking lot currently used by the Delta Hotel.
The new building will include two levels of secure underground parking.
“With a blend of contemporary and innovative office/ retail space, the building will target progressive organizations who value sustainability, collaborative spaces and convenient amenities,” a news release said.
Construction is expected to begin this spring. Urban Systems’ head office will anchor phase one.
Future buildings are envisioned for 6th Avenue and Lansdowne beside phase one and on the parking lot immediately beside the Delta on Victoria Street.
Partners in the development include A&T Project Developments, Invictus Properties and Msson “Cattle Mackey Partnership.
No dollar figure was released on the costs of the development.

Would be nice if there was some rental housing as part of the development .
