LETTER – Three-minute idling bylaw needs to be thought through

(Image: File photo)

Just a comment on the report of idling three-minute penalty.

I have a health condition where my body has to stay warm or my joints freeze up which is very painful. I have to receive injections to keep moving. So in the winter my husband will warm up our vehicle so I can go for a little drive to get out of the house. Sometimes he will run in for a few things and I have to keep the vehicle running.

Sometimes I just don’t think people think of these things when we make blanket calls. My well-being emotional and physical count also not just the environment. Thanks for listening.

In extreme heat or very cold winter days this makes no sense whatsoever.

  2. There must be bigger considerations on Council’s plate, for goodness sakes you bunch of small thinking ninnies.

  3. This shows about as much thought as allowing the traffic to race down Valleyview drive. I’d like to see a time when we get some real thought on Council. This is a moronic law, and pretty hard to enforce. But they will have the cops out doing it. ( not like they don’t have enough to do) How about this? Get rid of this law, put up 2 stop signs at Comazzeto and at Vicars, retire from council as your too dumb to be there….that might work….

  4. Hopefully for the therapy a compact, fuel efficient four cylinders does it, not a gigantic V8.

Agree with Pierre (as usual). Three minutes’ warming should be enough to get a newer, fiesty car with heated seats all ready to go. But yes, your health and well being are as important as the environment. I hope you can get the supports needed. I would personally donate to a GoFundMe page for you to get a new car for these purposes, and if many others report the same condition, consideration of efficient vehicles as being heathy for people directly might be in order.
