ART – Public to get a say on design for wildfire volunteer monument

2003 wildfire statue.

Regional district residents will get a vote on the design for a monument honouring volunteers in the 2017 wildfires. Three small-scale models have been short-listed for the $100,000 public-art piece, which will be erected at Sandman Centre.

The models, or maquettes, will make the rounds to seven TNRD libraries this month. Results of the vote will be counted as one vote on the deciding jury, which is made up of representatives from the City of Kamloops and TNRD.

The maquettes will be at the following libraries:

Clearwater: May 31-June 2

Barriere: June 6-9

Clinton: June 12-14

Cache Creek: June 16-20

Ashcroft: June 21-23

North Kamloops: June 25-27

Kamloops: June 28-July 3
