POLICE – Stolen truck recovered in minutes, dog team nabs suspect
Kamloops RCMP recovered a vehicle today (Jan. 22, 2018) minutes after it was stolen.
At 10:45 a.m. police received a report that a 2010 Dodge Ram pick-up had been stolen from Butler Auto Sales on Tranquille Road. Soon after, an officer saw the vehicle near Northills Mall. The officer tried to stop it but the driver fled.
RCMP then got a call that a vehicle matching the description was driving erratically on Fortune Drive and turning towards Schubert Drive. Police flooded the area and located the stolen vehicle abandoned on the corner of Cornwall and Kent.
A few minutes later, the police dog team tracked the suspect from the abandoned vehicle and arrested him without incident.
The 22-year-old Kamloops suspect is being held in custody to go before a judge.
