POLICE – Decomposed body found in tent at Mission Flats

Kamloops RCMP are investigating the discovery of a body on Mission Flats Road.

On August 16th A resident saw a tent behind a tree as he was walking along the Thompson River next to Mission Flats Road on Wednesday (Aug. 16, 2017) and approached the tent but as he got close to it, he could smell a strong odour.

Police were notified and when the officers entered the tent, they found a badly decomposed body.  Cpl. Jodie Shelkie said it appears the body is of an adult male.

“At this time, there is no evidence leading the RCMP to believe the death is suspicious.  Drugs and paraphernalia were found in the tent.”

The Coroner’s Office was engaged and will conduct an autopsy to determine the cause of death, and the approximate age and height of the dead man.

Police are researching all missing person files and the investigation is ongoing.
