POLICE – Man arrested, taken to RIH after firearm incident on Desmond

A 73-year-old man was arrested and taken to hospital today (April 18, 2017) after an incident involving threats with a firearm.

Kamloops RCMP responded to a complaint at 2:15 p.m. at a residence on Desmond Street. Caregivers who had gone to the home said the man was distraught and allegedly made threats involving a firearm.

Police arrived, contacted the man by phone and asked him to come to the door.  When officers confirmed he had no firearms on him, he was arrested and taken to Royal Inland Hospital for observation.  A firearm was seized from inside the house.

Charges against the man will be considered pending the outcome of his medical assessment.
