EDITORIAL – Constant funding announcements have become white noise
An ArmchairMayor editorial by Mel Rothenburger.
DO YOU HEAR that sound?
Wait for it…. It’s the sound of money falling from the trees and landing on our heads. Our money.
You have to wonder what the B.C. Liberal government was doing with that cash until now. Maybe they were keeping it all in a giant sock under the mattress.
Yesterday, I started counting it up from the steady stream of press releases… and stopped at around the $200 million mark, and that was just for part of the day.

The masses are buying it…
Who cares about the philosophy, the vision, the ethics, the policies…we are so, so, so “featherweight”…but are the alternatives like appetizers without a main course?

Yes, Mel, dare anyone mention “stewardship” in the days leading up an election.
At the municipal level, the way to deal with the lack of good stewardship is to let the public know ‘they’ might be facing a 4.8% tax increase this year but “we’ll try our best to keep it below 2%”.
Then, the next logical move for an elected person is to step from municipal to Provincial office.
Sorry, if they were not good stewards at a small level, why should anyone think they’ll be good stewards at a higher level?
Many years ago, this principle was explained by a carpenter’s son and even the great uneducated masses understood.
