POLICE – Three youths charged with assault with a weapon
All three youths arrested in connection with a BB-gun shooting near a Kamloops school on Thursday have now been charged with assault with a weapon.
The three were taken into custody after Kamloops RCMP were called to the scene off school grounds near Brocklehurst Middle School on Windbreak Street shortly after noon yesterday.
The school was placed in lock down until police were able to resolve the incident peacefully.
Three young males were arrested. Today police report all three have been charged with assault with a weapon and have been released to their respective guardians.
One of the three youths was re-arrested for breaching his conditions within hours of his release. He has been held in custody pending a court appearance this morning.
A young male victim who was shot with the BB gun was taken to Royal Inland Hospital with minor injuries. He has since been released. Staff Sgt. Robert Daly said all those involved are known to each other and are not students of the school.
RCMP are continuing the investigation and ask if anyone who witnessed this incident to please contact the Kamloops RCMP.
