ELECTION BITS- Fraser-Nicola NDP picks date to nominate candidate
A date has been set for the NDP’s nomination meeting in Fraser-Nicola. Members will choose between longtime former Merritt- area MLA Harry Lali and Lower Nicola Indian Band Chief Aaron Sam. Jackie Tegart of the Liberals is the incumbent MLA…. Lali has reversed his support of the Trans Mountain pipeline expansion, now onside with leader John Horgan in opposition to it. He had been asked not to run for the nomination because of his pipeline support…. Todd Stone, running again in Kamloops-South Thompson, says the Liberals are working within the rules on donations to the party… The Green Party prohibits donations from unions and corporation…
For the people here in the Fraser-Nicola, the choice is pretty clear – a fresh candidate with new ideas – Aaron Sam as degrees in Law (has worked as a criminal lawyer for a decade) and Environmental studies, and has been deeply engaged with the Province, resource industries, and the Federal government, as well as tackling environmental issues impacting our community …TIME FOR CHANGE. Time for Aaron Sam. Harry Lali has already proven he can lose to Jackie Tegart. We don’t need to see that performance repeated.
