Arm-waving, knife-wielding, T-shirt wearing man in custody

Passersby saw a man wearing a T-shirt waving his arms and walking around in the Tranquille Road market area early today (Saturday, Dec. 17, 2016).

rcmppatch2Worried about him in the cold temperatures, somebody called the cops, who found him near the intersection of Tranquille Road and Clapperton Avenue just after midnight.

It looked like he was under the influence of drugs, and he resisted when they tried to apprehend him. He pulled and knife and fought with police.

A police service dog and several more officers were needed in order to get him into custody, after which he was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

The man faces charges of resisting arrest and possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace. He remains in custody awaiting a court appearance.
