Teen’s father to driver – ‘You killed her and left her at the side of the road’

The heart-broken father of a Kamloops teen killed by a hit-and-run driver expressed his anguish tonight (Saturday, Nov. 5, 2016) and spoke via television news to the person responsible.
RCMP are still hunting for whoever struck and killed 16-year-old Jenn Gatey — who would have turned 17 today — early Friday evening.
Cameron Gatey, her father, spoke with Global BC about the tragedy, trying to describe the family’s grief.
“Take the saddest you’ve been and multiply it by a million times and that’s what it’s like,” he said.
“I can’t believe that she’s gone.”
Police informed him of his daughter’s death an hour after the Pacific Way collision that took her life a few blocks from home.
“You killed her and left her at the side of the road,” said Cameron Gatey.
He said the last time he spoke with her was when they were sitting outside the family home. “I’m just so glad that the last time I saw her was with a smile on her face.”
According to her Facebook page, Jennifer Gatey — who attended Kamloops South secondary school — was active in a variety of sports, including basketball, soccer, golf, skiing, cycling, volleyball and hiking.
Roadside memorials are being placed at Pacific Way. (Global TV)

My heart goes out to you, your family and all friends of your beautiful daughter. I hope this monster who took her life, lives in absolute anguish for the rest of his or her life! This is so heart breaking…I pray the person(s) who hit and ran and killed this precious little girl comes forward and turns themselves in…I pray the guilt eats them alive and they cannot sleep nor eat from what they have done…I know your baby girl isn’t coming home which is so heartbreaking but sure hope justise will prevail 🙏🙏🙏🙏 thoughts and prayers are with you and your family
