A suspect is in custody tonight (Saturday, Oct. 22, 2016) after a garden shed was broken into followed by a string of attempts at theft from vehicles.

Shortly after 1 p.m. today, Kamloops RCMP responded to a report of a break and enter in progress to a garden shed on Anvil Crescent. A man later tried to break into several vehicles on the 100 Block Columbia St. West.

Police Dog Services and numerous RCMP members had responded to the initial call. A suspect was seen on foot on the south side of Columbia Street, walking past the backyards of the townhouses on Sahali Terrace. He was taken into custody by members who were on the Columbia Street perimeter.

The 40-year-old man suspected of the attempted thefts is known to police and is being held in custody for a bail hearing, RCMP said. Police will be recommending charges of breach of probation, two break and enters and a mischief charge.

I wonder if he has the Garmin taken from our truck. The one and only time my hubby left it unlocked in batchelor heights, along with two toonies. I have the box for the garmin which should have the serial number on it.
