HARRISON – Don’t count Donald Trump out of the running just yet

Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton in second presidential debate.

IS IT OVER for the Donald? Not everyone is measuring him for a political pine box just yet.
Donald Trump has come this far fighting all the odds… the Democrats, the detractors in his own party, and the big U.S. left wing media.

harrisonhed-sep2016It reached the point following the release of a decade old video tape that had the Donald engaged in locker room talk about women, where the media went into feeding frenzy mode crowing this was the last straw, and the latest evidence that Trump is a mysognist unfit to be president.

As former house speaker Newt Gingrich put it, the media had turned into a lynch mob demonizing Trump, but overlooking Clinton’s history.

While some Republicans have since jumped ship, they are among those who never wanted him as their presidential candidate to begin with. Trump is unpolished, is boorish and loud, and has more warts than one can count, but as Gingrich puts it, the alternative is Hillary Clinton, who Americans seem to dislike, and distrust, and who would offer them more of the same.

His advice to Republican leaders Monday: In the end, you either help defeat Hillary Clinton, or you help elect Hillary Clinton…. warning Clinton would produce the most corrupt, dishonest administration in American history.

If you listen to the media reports, Trumps chances of winning the presidency now are slim and none, and slim seems to have left town.

But that’s what they said about his nomination, so like it or not, even a sure bet might not be. Because as politically incorrect as it sounds, it ain’t over until the fat lady sings.

  1. Barry Goldwater was the last nut case to run for President of the USA prior to Trump and he lost in a landslide to Lyndon Johnson. Trump doesn’t have a hope in hell of winning and following the election in November, his businesses will not recover from his conduct.

  2. I would agree that more of the same is not what is needed, but right now, I think that might be better than Trump. This might bring out people, who have no political background for the next election. I would like to see someone either republican or democratic who has no “shady past” and can bring real change into politics. Perhaps this is what we should be looking for in Canadian politics as well. I agree, with the comment about term limits for other elected officials, something we in Canada don’t seem to have for any level of government.

It would seem the US citizen is tired of the status quo. If the office of President is set at 2 four year terms than perhaps something should be done o limit the time served in congress and the senate. Some of both groups seem to be elected for a lifetime .

I think, in my humble opinion, that the average American would vote for a Labrador in a nice suit if it meant breaking with the status quo, the very average voter knows that there is nothing coming for them in another 8 years of Washington divvying it all up amongst the same takers at the top, change is the name of the game just now and if they have to hold their nose to vote I am hopeful that they will.
The press is currently showing their bias and worst of all is the moderators of the debates and my respect for the CNN’s fair-haired lad has dropped out the bottom.

  5. Perhaps it is the right-wing media portraying Clinton as the most corrupt, dishonest president-in-waiting in American history.
It turns out that the emails thing did not really caused any great harm to anyone.
