Woman killed in Shuswap boating accident
NEWS/ CORONER — The B.C. Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of a woman who died after a houseboat incident on Shuswap Lake by Nielson Beach near Sicamous on Friday.
She was Andrea Mary Jacura, 22, of Edmonton.
Jacura had just entered the lake waters in the early afternoon Friday when she was caught by a houseboat propeller. She suffered severe injuries and died at the scene.
A man who died after a single ATV incident near Salmon Arm last Wednesday has been identified as Brandon James Radnai, aged 22, of Mission.
Radnai was operating an ATV, accompanied by a family member, when the machine over-turned. He suffered critical injuries and was taken to Royal Inland Hospital by paramedics. He died the next day.
Two women killed in a collision in Vernon on Saturday have also been identified. They were Chantel Diane Bazin, 22, and Kayla Elizabeth Cartwright, 26, both of Kelowna.
Bazin was the driver, and Cartwright the front seat passenger, of a vehicle southbound on Highway 97 just before midnight when their vehicle slid across the centre line into the northbound lane, colliding with an on-coming vehicle.
Both women died at the scene. The driver and passenger of the other vehicle were taken to hospital for treatment. The roads were wet at the time, and road conditions are being investigated as a possible factor in the accident.
