Residents have chance to give input on City’s budget
NEWS/ CITY — Residents will once again have opportunities to voice their opinions on how their tax dollars are spent via special budget meetings.
This year’s focus is on City service levels, such as how often garbage is picked up, how often the sports fields are maintained, hours of operation at City facilities and utilities management.
The City will host one daytime session and one evening session on Wednesday, Oct. 22: 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Parkside Lounge, Interior Savings Centre; and 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at McArthur Island Sports Centre.
In addition to being able to follow the conversation on Twitter using #kamloopsbudget, this year the City has added virtual budget meetings. Using TeamSpeak software, residents can tune in and listen in real time, with the ability to post comments and ideas.
Information on TeamSpeak and documents to support the budget meetings are viewable at http://www.kamloops.ca/2015budget.
Input from the public meetings will be recorded and considered when Council makes its final decisions on the 2015 budget and tax rate.
Residents may have a chance to voice their opinions, but as always, they will not be listened too.
