Candidate slates set for civic elections

NEWS/ CIVIC ELECTION 2014 — The slate of candidates for November’s civic election is set as nominations officially closed at 4 p.m. Friday.

Four candidates will be on the ballot for Kamloops mayor: Benjamin James, Pierre Filisetti, Peter Milobar and Dallas Paisley.

VotelogRunning for Kamloops council are Nancy Bepple, Donovan Cavers, Ken Christian, Nelly Dever, Bob Dieno, Dieter Dudy, Annette Glover, Jenny Green, Brad Harrrison, Tanja Hasler, Glenn Hilke, Peter Kerek, Tina Lange, Dustin W. McIntyre, Andrew Miller, Daphane Nelson, Mike O’Reilly, Andy Philpot, Cheryl Phippe, Alexandra Proctor, Reo Rocheleau, Peter Sharp, Arjun Singh, Bernadette Siracky, Marg Spina, Glen Thompson, Pat Wallace and Denis Walsh.

Walsh had earlier considered running for mayor.

Standing for election to one of the City seats on the Kamloops-Thompson school board are Christy Campbell, Michael Carroll, Bowen Cooluris, Joan Cowden, Colleen Deveyrac, Adam Jensen, Kathleen Karpuk, Don Kitt, Colin Madland, Barbara M. Morin, Aaron Shufletoski, Joe Small, Meghan Wade, Christine Watson and Gerald Kenyon Watson.

Several Thompson-Nicola Regional District directors have been returned by acclamation: Sally Watson (Electoral Area E), Steven Rice (Electoral Area I), Randy Murray (Electoral Area M), and Herb Graham (Electoral Area N).

Electoral areas that will see elections are A (Carol Schaffer and Tim Pennell), B (Max Lentz and Willow Macdonald), J (Ronaye Elliott and Ronald McGivern), L (John Taylor and Ken Gillis), O (Bill Kershaw and Mike Fennell), and P (John Sternig and Mel Rothenburger).

In Barriere, Virginia Smith will challenge incumbent Bill Humphreys. Running for the six council seats are Harry Eberts, Donna Kibble, Glen Stanley, Amanda Sabyan, Ward Stamer, Mike Fennell, Al Fortin, Shane Quilding, Pat Paula and Christine Janis.

Incumbent Cache Creek Mayor John Ranta will run against Marg Durnin. Nominated for council are Lisa Dafoe, Herb Hofer, Wyatt McMurray, David Dubois, Jim Lambert and Martin Dalsin, while Carmen Ranta is the lone nominee for school trustee.

Robin Smith was the only candidate to stand for mayor in Logan Lake. Seeking the six council seats are Melanie Gilmar, Amy Irinevna, Claire Newman, Jim Noble, Al Smith, June Waddell, Charlie Weir and Garry Youd.

    In regards to lead up to the Kamloops municipal elections and the candidates, appears to be large number of individuals interested in the social welfare fear. Hope that they are interested in other issues as well.
