Mr. Open Pitbelly drops out of mayoralty
NEWS/ CIVIC ELECTION 2014 — Another candidate has dropped out of the race for Kamloops City Hall.
This time it’s Mr. Open Pitbelly, also known as performance artist Elaine Sedgman.
“Mr. Open Pitbelly sadly announces that he is dropping out of the Kamloops mayoralty race,” a news release issued Thursday morning states.
“After a walk in the park, his manager Elaine Sedgman has decided not to take his place on the ballot. Mr. Pitbelly encourages everybody get out and vote on Nov. 15.”
No reasons were given for the decision. Pitbelly/Sedgman joined the campaign a month ago to draw attention to opposition to the Ajax mine, although the Pitbelly character was ostensibly in favour of tailings ponds, open pits and pollution.
Wednesday evening, council candidate Daljit Sadhra dropped out of the election, citing family reasons.
