Driver receives minor injuries in collision with bus
NEWS/ POLICE —A driver suffered minor injuries this morning (Wednesday) when her Volkswagen Jetta hit a City transit bus but she won’t be charged.
RCMP Const. Jason Epp said the collision happened about 8:06 a.m. at the intersection of Hugh Allen Drive and Copperhead Drive. B.C. Ambulance paramedics were already treating the woman’s injuries at the scene by the time police arrived.
She was taken to RIH. None of the bus passengers was injured.
Epp said it appears the driver of the Jetta failed to yield to the bus as she was making a lefthand turn from Copperhead Drive onto Hugh Allen Drive. Charges are not being contemplated, he said.
What I would like to know is why there are no charges here. It’s obvious that a law was broken, so what the hey .
I bet if she had been a senior, people would have been all over this! They would have been demanding she not be allowed to drive again because she was a danger to society! There would have been mention of re-testing etc. What is the difference in her making a mistake and an older driver making a mistake? The answer is, nothing! People have to realise that you do not have to be older to screw up!
