Council elects Arjun Singh to regional board
NEWS — Coun. Arjun Singh is the new Kamloops City council rep on the Thompson-Nicola Regional District board of directors. He was elected today (Tuesday) by his fellow councillors to replace Nancy Bepple, who had to resign from council recently due to health reasons.
“I hope I don’t let you down,” Singh told council.
In other business at today’s council meeting, council:
• approved a counter-petition form for those who might wish to oppose the City borrowing $4.8 million to buy the Kamloops Daily News building.
• decided to write a letter to Domtar, Arclin, Lafarge and Tolko explaining the City’s budget strategy that includes freezing the heavy industry tax rate for the coming year.
• proclaimed April 28 Day of Mourning for workers killed on the job, April 21-27 Boogie the Bridge Week, April 23-May 3 Mining Week, April 13-19 KamClean Week, and April 27-May 3 Arbor Week..
