‘Let’s keep talking’ says new pro-Ajax video

NEWS/ AJAX — A new video promoting the benefits of the Ajax open-pit copper mine was unveiled today.

Yves Lacasse, external affairs manager for KGHM International Ajax, told 2,000 people at a “private party” for Ajax supporters in Interior Savings Centre it was the first time the video has been shown in public.

The opening scene in the three-minute video shows Lacasse looking out at Kamloops on a winter’s day. Some things, the voice-over intones, will always be the same — “The sun will shine; there will be snow in winter, and hockey’s our game.”

Then the voice adds, “And the rest is up for conversation.”

The video features testimonials from businessman Jim Thomson, TRU dean of trades and technology Lindsay Langill, and self-described “mining brat” Caroline King who started a Facebook group called Support Ajax Mine.

“Let’s keep talking,” the video concludes.

Lacasse told the crowd that Thomson, Langill and King “have demonstrated a great deal of courage for speaking up in our video.”

Robert Koopmans, the corporation’s senior strategic communications manager, said the video will be shown on local television and posted on YouTube. He wasn’t sure how much it cost to produce.

  3. Gotta love it when the video says “lets keep talking”, but they disable commenting to prevent any discussion. I guess they only like to hear themselves talk.
