NEWS — The Coquihalla Highway is open again between Merritt and Hope but motorists are being advised to stay off it if at all possible. Crews managed to clear away enough snow Wednesday night to get the highway open but are still fighting the weather.

DriveBC is advising drivers to exercise caution and to watch for narrowed lane widths and slow moving trucks over the Coquihalla summit. “Travel is not recommended unless absolutely necessary.”

Heavy snow is forecast until early afternoon as the last in a series of Pacific weather systems moves over the Central Interior, with another 10 to 15 cm. expected for the Coquihalla. Environment Canada predicts it will east to scattered flurries later in the day.
