POLICE – Youth approached by man in truck on 700-block Victoria Street

The Kamloops RCMP Detachment is asking the public for more information after a youth reported being approached by a man in a truck Saturday afternoon.

On Feb. 15, 2026, around 2:20 p.m., Kamloops police received the report, which involved a youth walking in the 700-block of Victoria Street in downtown Kamloops.  A man in a black Dodge pickup truck offered the youth a ride.  The youth declined and entered a nearby business and called a safe adult.

“No licence plate was observed, but the truck did have a scratch on the back like it had been keyed,” said Cpl. Dana Napier.

“The man was described as indigenous with a grey beard with black hair and eventually drove to a parking lot in the 450-block of Lansdowne Street.”

Police are reminding the public to review personal safety with children and youth in their homes:

  • Be aware of your surroundings
  • It’s okay to say no and to not engage with people you don’t know
  • Plan ahead about what to do if you are approached

Police are asking anyone with video surveillance or dash cam footage that may help identify the vehicle or the driver to contact the detachment as soon as possible to help further the investigation by calling the Kamloops RCMP Detachment at 250-828-3000 or Crime Stoppers at 1800-222-8477 (TIPS) and cite file 2026-4784.
