FIRE – Victoria Street fire being investigated as an arson

A  downtown fire is being investigated as suspicious.

On Jan. 14, 2026, Kamloops Fire Rescue and Kamloops RCMP responded to a fire at the former Fashion 5 clothing store at 418 Victoria Street.  That fire has now been determined as suspicious and is being investigated as an arson, police said today (Jan. 27, 2027).

“The Kamloops RCMP Detachment General Investigation Support Team is investigating the fire along with investigators from Kamloops Fire Rescue,” said Cpl. Dana Napier, Kamloops RCMP Detachment spokesperson.

“Investigators are looking specifically for video of the area between 10 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. on Jan. 14, 2026, both in the front and back of the building, additionally if anyone has footage of the fire itself.”

Police are looking to speak with anyone who may have information or video footage of the time leading up to the fire or the fire itself. The public is encouraged to call the Kamloops RCMP Detachment at 250-828-3000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) and cite file 2026-1404.
