POLICE – Man and woman arrested in connection with pair of arsons

Kamloops and Tk’emlúps RCMP along with the Crime Reduction Unit said today they have arrested two suspects in the torching of a property on Athabasca Street Jan. 7, and a fire set at a Kingston Avenue compound Jan. 11.

A man and a woman were captured on video surveillance in connection with the Athabasca Street break-in, and what appeared to be the same man was videoed near the Kingston Avenue compound Jan. 11. Fires were set at both.

The Crime Reduction Unit located and arrested the two suspects.

Both suspects were held in custody at the onset. A court hearing was scheduled for today involving the man alleged to be responsible in both incidents.

“These crimes were prioritized given the risk to the public,” said Supt. Jeff Pelley. “By applying a multi jurisdictional lens to offenders, and with the help of the public we were able to utilize our Crime Reduction Unit to quickly locate and take into custody, the persons we believe responsible, for these reckless acts.”

Anyone who can provide further information involving either of these investigations Kamloops RCMP or Tk’emlúps Rural RCMP Detachment at 250-828-3000 or 250-314-1800 respectively and cite files 2026-1054 and 621. Alternatively, Crime Stoppers can be reached at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
