FIRE – Empty downtown store gutted by late evening fire

An empty clothing store was badly damaged Wednesday night (Jan. 14, 2026) by a fire that began in the back alley of the 400-block of Victoria Street.

Kamloops RCMP responded to assist Kamloops Fire Rescue at the scene about 11:15 p.m.

“At this time Kamloops RCMP is keeping the scene secure until investigators are able to attend to learn more about the cause of the fire,” Cpl. Dana Napier said today (Jan. 15, 2026).

“The fire was suppressed, preventing the spread to further property damage to other buildings.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Kamloops RCMP Detachment at 250-828-3000 and cite file 2026-1404.
