POLICE – Woman freed after RCMP launch ‘high-risk’ vehicle stop

A “high-risk” vehicle stop was initiated after police received a report a woman being held against her will in a vehicle stopped near the 2300-block of the East Trans Canada Highway.

On Jan. 4, 2026, at about 7 p.m., a woman was able to communicate that she was being held against her will in her own van by three alleged suspects who also had a gun.  When the vehicle ran out of gas the woman was allowed to walk to a nearby gas station where she was able to ask for help.

“A high-risk vehicle stop was initiated by Kamloops RCMP frontline police, who were able to safely separate the woman from the three alleged suspects in the van,’ said Cpl. Dana Napier.

“Two men and a woman were arrested on scene and a BB Gun was located in the van.”

The case remains under investigation and, charge recommendations are anticipated, police said.  Anyone with information is asked to pcontact the Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 and cite file 2026-346.
