Kamloops RCMP are reminding drivers to slow down and allow extra time  and distance while travelling this holiday season.

With large amounts of snow forecast for today (Dec. 24, 2025), take time to plan your route and ensure you and your vehicle are prepared for winter driving conditions, say police.  If your travel plans are not essential, consider making alternative arrangements or delaying your travel when possible.

“Please take extra caution and check road conditions and travel routes this holiday season,” said Cpl. Dana Napier.  “It is a good idea to be prepared in your vehicle with a blanket, extra food, and to keep your gas tank at least half full.”

Tips for road and travel safety:

  • Keep an emergency kit in the vehicle
  • Keep a blanket in the vehicle
  • Let someone you trust know of your travels plans and routes
  • Check road conditions prior to leaving
  • Clear snow, ice and dirt from vehicle and lights
