POLICE – Suspected abduction prompts heavy citywide RCMP action

The suspected abduction of a woman spurred a heavy police presence throughout the city and outlying areas yesterday (Dec. 22, 2025) that spanned several hours.
Kamloops RCMP officers along with the South East District Emergency Response Team were visible in the afternoon near the 700-block Seymour Street. An investigation into a possible abduction prompted police to utilize RCMP Air Services, along with the South East District ERT and several Kamloops RCMP Detachment support units including the Serious Crime Unit and General Investigation Support Team, Targeted Enforcement Unit and the Crime Reduction Unit.
Around noon police received a report of a possible abduction that occurred in the Dallas area where a woman was seen being forced into a vehicle by a man. The vehicle fled east and was later re-acquired at a gas station in the 1200-block of Dallas Drive, police said. A coordinated effort led to the driver being arrested without incident and the woman found safe.
“This was a swift response to a serious report of a person being abducted,” said Supt. Jeff Pelley, Officer in Charge of the Kamloops RCMP Detachment.
“This took significant coordination with many support units assisting in a dynamic unfolding event to bring this to a safe conclusion.”
One man was arrested and held in custody with charge recommendations anticipated. Anyone who may have witnessed or has information related to the incident is asked to contact the Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 and cite file 2025-42110.
Police pursuit, results in three arrested
Kamloops frontline police received a report of a possible abduction that led to a short pursuit and pinning in the alleged suspect vehicle near the 200-block of Tranquille Road.
On Dec. 22, 2025, just after 7 p.m., Kamloops police received a call regarding an abduction, and a vehicle description and licence plate was provided. Police located the vehicle on the North Shore and initiated a traffic stop. The vehicle fled nearly colliding with a police vehicle. Given the high-risk nature of the call a determination was made to pursue the vehicle.
“Police Dog Services was requested to assist,” said Cpl. Dana Napier spokesperson for the Kamloops RCMP. “When it was safe, contact was made with a police vehicle and the suspect vehicle which resulted in demobilizing the truck and damaging a police cruiser.”
All three occupants of the vehicle were arrested. One went to hospital for assessment and was released. The abduction was found not to be credible. The investigation is ongoing and charge recommendations are anticipated for the driver who remains in custody.
