POLICE – Suspect arrested after gun incident on Notre Dame Drive

RCMP officers with the help of Police Dog Services have arrested a suspect after a shooting attempt early today (Dec. 8, 2025).

At about 6:10 a.m., police responded to a report of shots fired near the 700-block of Notre Dame Drive.  Multiple frontline police arrived in the area and were supported by Police Dog Services.  Police located the suspect and took him into custody. The firearm allegedly used in the offence was located by police dog Nikka and recovered.

“Fortunately, no one was injured during the incident,” said Cpl. Dana Napier. “Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident to please call.”

It was unclear at first whether the gun had actually been discharged but Napier clarified that police have found evidence that a shot was, indeed, fired.

Charge recommendations are anticipated.  Anyone with video footage or who may have observed the incident is asked to contact the Kamloops RCMP Detachment at 250-828-3000 and cite file 2025-40529.
