Lloyd George elementary school was in a short hold and secure this afternoon due to an incident on school property.

At about 12:40 p.m. (Nov. 13, 2025) Kamloops RCMP were called to the 700-block of Dominion Street for a report of a woman suffering from a mental health crisis.  The woman set fire to her residence, then made her way to the neighbourhood school.

Kamloops Fire Rescue were on scene attending to the fire.

“Upon police arrival at the school the woman fled to a nearby residence and was located by police and apprehended,” said Cpl. Dana Napier.  “The school proactively implemented a hold and secure in an effort to maintain the safety of the students.”

The hold and secure was released shortly after apprehension of the women in distress.  The Kamloops RCMP are working with School District 73 Administration and school staff as part of the ongoing investigation.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to please call the Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 and cite file 2025-37919.
