The Kamloops RCMP Detachment wants to encourage the community to help keep little ghosts and ghouls safe this Halloween.

The Crime Prevention Unit is reminding neighbourhoods of some safety tips to keep in mind on Friday, Oct. 31, 2025, as there is an increase in pedestrians out and about.

“We want to encourage those planning on going out on Halloween to plan ahead to help keep the night safe,” said Cpl. Dana Napier.

Below are some tips to help keep the night spooktacular.

Be street smart:

  • Be visible by wearing reflective clothing and carry a glow stick or flashlight
  • Stick together, go with an adult or with groups of friends
  • Know your route and stick to the plan
  • Stick to marked intersections when crossing streets
  • Stay outside, do not go into a house to accept treats

Motorists:

  • Slow down and use extra caution
  • Expect the unexpected
  • Use caution entering and exiting driveways
  • Give yourself extra travel time

Police say Halloween can be popular with criminals as well so if you see something say something. Report any suspicious activity, including arson, vandalism and property damage to the Kamloops RCMP Detachment at 250-828-3000 or call 9-1-1 for emergencies.
