POLICE – Pedestrian reported struck by train but no one found

Mission Flats Road is open again following a closure in response to a report of a pedestrian being struck by a train today (Oct. 1, 2025).

The accident happened near Lansdowne street and 2nd Avenue around 8:20 a.m., RCMP Cpl. Dana Naper said.

RCMP and CPKC Police both attended the area, and trains were stopped while they investigated.

“The road reopened, but the investigation is still ongoing,” said Cpl. Dana Napier.  “Police Dog Services and a drone were used to locate the person struck; however, no one was located during an extensive search along the tracks.”

Anyone who may have been in the area around 8 a.m., with video footage or was witness to the incident is asked to contact the police at 250-828-3000 and cite file 2025-32732.
