POLICE – Four-year investigation into discovery of body brings charges

Two men have been charged with second-degree murder in the death of a man four years ago.

On Oct. 1, 2021, around 4:15 p.m., Kamloops police attended an area along the shoreline near the entrance to the City of Kamloops landfill after Kamloops Fire Rescue discovered a body while responding to a suspicious fire.

The body was identified as that of Adam Hibbert.

The discovery initiated a lengthy investigation resulting in charges being laid Sept. 18, 2025 against Tristan Bris Fernandez and Robert Lloyd Sedore.  Fernandez is currently in custody on an unrelated mater.  Sedore has been arrested and is also in custody.

“This was an extensive and complex investigation that required a high level of commitment, collaboration, and determination,” said Supt. Jeff Pelley, Kamloops RCMP detachment officer in charge.

He stated, “While we cannot speak to the details as these matters are before the courts, I want to acknowledge the significant effort that has gone into bringing the investigation to this stage.”
