REID ALL ABOUT IT – A new feature on the fascinating mayoral life of RHJ

A new feature that will attempt to help keep track of the fascinating mayoral life of Reid Hamer-Jackson.

The mayor is getting trashed in social media this week after Levi Landry of InfoNews posted a story saying Hamer-Jackson has filed a police complaint against himself. Landry attributed the story to “sources” and claimed the police complaint is apparently in connection to a defamation suit against developer Joshua Knaak.

Complaining about yourself to police does indeed seem bizarre, so I asked Mr. Google, “Can I file a police complaint against myself in B.C.?” The AI Overview came back, “Yes, you can report yourself to the police in British Columbia, and a police complaint (also known as laying an information or swearing an information) can be made by anyone who believes a crime has been committed, not just the police.”

That doesn’t quite seem to fill the bill, but the mayor himself didn’t provide any clues yesterday as to what Landry is talking about. There is something going on, though.

“It’s an active file,” Hamer-Jackson said, so he can’t talk about it.

We do know, however, the mayor has publicly urged Knaak to file an assault charge against him, in hopes police will look into it and find that an allegation against the mayor involving a night club incident is unfounded.

  1. A lot of people don’t realize you don’t need the police to bring forward charges. I’ve been through that process, R Koopmans was in the courtroom and covered it for the Daily News.
